COUNSELING MINISTRY

The West Angeles Counseling Center, a ministry of the West Angeles C.O.G.I.C., pastored by Bishop Charles E. Blake, was established over a decade ago. Today the Counseling Center recognizes the trichotomy of man and offers a treatment plan to its counselees that considers the aspects of spirit, soul, and body.

We offer an integrated approach of theological psychology and spiritual counseling that results in healthier, Christian alternatives to a wide array of spiritual, psychosocial, and socioeconomic aberrant behaviors. This is accomplished within a framework of specialized classes, workshops, support groups, and client sessions conducted by peer, pastoral, professional, and crisis intervention counselors.

Misson Statement

The mission of the Counseling Center is to be innovative in its purpose, and its purpose is to heal the hurting. Not to advise, but rather to empower the client to make rational and healthy life choices for a more abundant life. Empowerment comes through spiritual and relational education, cognitive redirection, coping skills, and emotional management that enable clients to work through the contradictions between wholeness and dysfunctional behavior. Empowerment through the grace of God changes destinies.

The director of counseling must accomplish its mission by creating an organizational atmosphere that fosters confidentiality, prayer, trust, empathy, ministerial gifts of deliverances, professional ethics, a timely intake system, Bible-based psychological interventions, and a dedication to maximizing the potential of each client who is willing to strive for improvement.
