Keeping Us Safe One Tuesday at a Time

YAM SPOTLIGHT
JONNYE THREAT

Young Adult Spotlight

I had the pleasure of meeting Johnnye Threatt one evening after Tuesday Night Bible Study while walking to my car.  He kindly asked me how far I was parked and if I needed to be escorted to my car.  After accepting his offer I discovered that this is the role he has accepted in Young Adult Ministries.  Johnnye serves as a Security Guard on Tuesday nights with YAM by walking the female attendees to their cars and making sure they arrive safely.  He has been working in this capacity for the past year.

This faithful West Angeles member of 17 years currently works as a Security Consultant for Protection One where he designs alarms and camera systems for homes and businesses.  Safety and security are of great importance to him as he also works as a Bodyguard and Escort for high-profile individuals to different events.

On Sundays after 8:00am service you might see Johnnye in the courtyard inviting young men to Sunday School.  You also might see him attend the monthly Brotherhood Prayer Breakfast in the Crystal Room every third Saturday where he sits on the committee.  Perhaps you might even see him at a concert or sporting event stopping someone from selling t-shirts illegally.

When asked about how he enjoys being busy, Johnnye replied, “I call myself a servant because I do everything I am asked to do.”  We are so happy this servant is obedient because he is keeping us safe one Tuesday at a time and making a difference.
