Course Descriptions

THST-101 Systematic Theology I
Students will examine the historic doctrines of the Christian faith as revealed in the Bible. This section is a systematic study of the teachings of the Bible concerning revelation, God, the Holy Trinity, creation, providence, miracles, angels, man, sin salvation, Christ’s Incarnation, atonement, and exaltation.
 
THPT-201 Pentecostal History and Early COGIC
A survey of the history of 20th Century Pentecostalism beginning with Bonnie Brae Street meetings and the Azusa Street revival. The founding of the Church of God in Christ with Bishop Charles H. Mason and his receiving the Baptism of the Holy Spirit with evidence of tongues at Azusa Street will be examined along with the exploration of the doctrine of Holy Spirit Baptism as taught by Pentecostals.
 
BENT-101 New Testament Survey I
Learn techniques to become a better teacher of the Bible in any teaching setting one encounters in modern city life. Discover how to teach the Bible so anyone will be interested and transformed by its powerful message. Learn to incorporate effective Bible study and teaching techniques in your own ministry of the Word.
 
BEOT-101 Old Testament Survey I
A historical survey and analysis of the biblical literature of the Old Testament as it was given in its original, historical and cultural settings. Matters of dating, authorship, theme and theological settings of the Old Testament books will be examined. Special attention will be given to the relationship of the Old and New Testaments and the practical application of major Old Testament themes to the student’s life and ministry
