West Angeles COGIC’s Service Auxiliaries serve the Pastors, the congregation and the public at every worship service, and at scheduled church events. We are often the first face the public sees, and our role in providing the love and light of Christ is an integral as the public persona of our church.
Our duties are many, from greeting all with love and a friendly smile, to assisting with the flow of services and collections. We distribute bulletins, we seat the congregation, we ensure that everyone is able to worship in comfort.
There are many ways to serve at West Angeles, including:
The Bible’s references to service are many, as service and love are at the basis of our faith in Jesus Christ’s mandates to those who love Him:
Matthew 20:27-28
“…whoever wants to be first must be your slave— 28 just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”
1 Peter 4:10
Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.
Romans 12:9-13
Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good. 10 Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves. 11 Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord. 12 Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. 13 Share with the Lord’s people who are in need. Practice hospitality.
Join us in ministry. Serve unto the Lord with West Angeles’ Service Auxiliaries.
“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit” – Matthew 28:19 (NKJV)
Each year, the West Angeles World Missions Organization travels worldwide to do God’s work, and we would love for you to join us! Our missions teams travel annually to minister in locations such as Brazil, Panama, Haiti, Israel, and in several countries on the African continent. Through the visionary leadership of Presiding Bishop Charles Edward Blake, Sr. and Deacon Jon A. Randall, West Angeles’ World Missions Organization brings the Gospel of Jesus Christ to those who are in darkness around the world.
Today, there are more than 6,000 unreached cultures around the world. These are peoples among whom there is no indigenous community of believing Christians. They lack the adequate numbers and resources to evangelize to those around them. It is our intent to work with a heart of cultural sensitivity to better serve others, to demolish the racial and ethnic barriers that divide the church, and to promote unity in the building of the body of Christ.
We also provide food, medical assistance, clothing, school supplies, building assistance, and other basic needs of daily life.

“The C.R.E.W.” – “Creating Righteous Effective Worshipers” – is the young adult ministry of West Angeles COGIC. The C.R.E.W. positions itself to promote spiritual and intellectual growth of all people while bridging the gap between generations. We also promote interaction with the various facets of West Angeles Church. Our vision is that all young adults value their spiritual connections with God, love Him, and love the church.
God wants the best for all of His people but He also requires us to learn about Him and love Him. Well, we’ve found out that the more you learn about Him, the more able you are to love Him. The Young Adult Ministry promotes learning about ourselves as we learn more about God. We are about unity and building each other up mentally, spiritually, and physically. The Young Adult Ministry is about improvement and personal development in the knowledge that God makes available to us.
Don’t you want to be better? Don’t you want to move to higher levels? Well, every week we are taking the mind-cuffs off, and exploring the Word of God as it relates to us. It is in the Holy scriptures that we understand that God has a purpose for each of us.
“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope” – Jeremiah 29 :11
People, God thinks peaceful thoughts of us, and He wants us to be a part of His hopeful future. We are creative! We love Jesus Christ! We are The C.R.E.W., and we are West Angeles.

Young Adult Director

The West Angeles Children’s Ministry gives children of all ages the opportunity to worship God in their own unique way. Also known as “West A Kids”, our ministry creates an age-appropriate worship environment where children can LEARN about God’s Word, REFLECT on the life of Jesus Christ, and EXPERIENCE God’s abundant life through the Holy Spirit.
Under the leadership of Presiding Bishop Charles Edward Blake, Sr. and Children’s Ministry Director Kimberly Briggs, your infant through 5th grade child will experience the truth about God in a child-friendly way. It is never too early for a child to learn the Word of God. The earlier that children begin to apply the teachings of God to their daily lives, the more in touch they are with their faith on a daily basis, and into their adulthood.
We teach God’s character and principles through His Word and the example of Jesus Christ. We use praise and worship, arts and crafts, fellowship time and an interactive Bible curriculum during our classroom sessions to ensure God’s objectives are reached.

Preschool (3yrs to Kinder) — Sundays 8am & 11am service in the Cathedral Hanger

The West Angeles Sunshine Band was organized with the purpose of nurturing kids, ages 12 and under, through ministry.
The Sunshine Band was established by the founder of the Church Of God In Christ, Bishop Charles Harrison Mason, in 1911. West Angeles’ Sunshine Band continues the tradition by teaching children about God and concepts of the Bible, including the love of God and God’s Son, Jesus; rules of ministry, as well as scriptures that provide a foundation for understanding, faith, love, grace, salvation and practical precepts for living holy and productive lives.
Study groups and activities are appropriately set based on age, physical and social abilities, as well as emotional and spiritual maturity. Here, kids will have the opportunity to learn, lead, follow, teach, explore, develop, and perform.
The primary focus of the West Angeles Sunshine Band is to offer an opportunity for children to receive salvation in their productive years. Meaningful and wholesome activities such as music, bible study, drama, arts and crafts, field trips, and special worship services, guide our youth into the principles of godly living. Our hope is to build a partnership between home, school, and church to aid in a spiritual foundation and additional resources for each child.
The content and curriculum of our classes include:
Tuesday Evenings, 7:00 – 9:00 p.m., West Angeles Youth Center, Rooms 100-102
Wednesday Evenings, 7:00 – 9:00 p.m., West Angeles North Campus Multi-Purpose Building, Rooms 1, 3, & 5

The West Angeles Prayer Ministry taps into the realm of the Spirit through the avenue of prayer. Directed by Evangelist Yvonne Gibson Johnson, our purpose is to facilitate the remembrance of God’s Word through prayer. Our primary goal is for each member of the church to receive from God His individual plan for his or her life. We seek out God’s direction concerning our purpose and destiny.
One of the most important things you can do for someone is to pray for them. Our Prayer Ministry department is strictly devoted to praying for our constituents, friends, neighbors, and family. As intercessors and warriors, we commit to ask of the Lord, through prayer, to perform those things which the Word promises us.
“But you, when you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly” – Matthew 6:6.
Join us for prayer at our North Campus location; West Angeles COGIC, 3045 Crenshaw Boulevard, Los Angeles, CA 90016:
If you have a special prayer request, please contact us:
If you desire to grow closer to God through prayer, remember these 5 tips:

3. Pray to keep God’s sovereign place in your life.
4. Use prayer to develop and maintain your relationship with God.
5. Pray until you receive direction from God.
“Again I say to you that if two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven” – Matthew 18:19

Our Media Ministry is powered by the Holy Spirit, and is focused on creating an atmosphere of spiritual excellence.
