THE BROTHERHOOD Upcoming Events West Angeles Church of God in Christ The Brotherhood Presents 32nd Annual Golf Tournament Monday June 22, 2026 Lakewood Country Club On behalf of Pastor Charles Blake II and the West Angeles Church Brotherhood Organization (WACBO), we invite you to join us for our 32nd Annual Golf Tournament. This year’s tournament will be held at California Country Club. Built in 1950 the course is known to be enjoyable for beginners and can be challenging to the more seasoned golfer. The course is located in Whittier CA about 20 minutes east of downtown Los Angeles. Every year is a record -breaking year we plan to commemorate this milestone with a special gift (a Leather Golf Bag) for all golfing participants. The tournament also represents an excellent opportunity to help our youth. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the West Angeles Boy Scouts and various Youth and mentoring programs. Through WACBO, many youths are exposed to a variety of character enhancing activities including golfing, bowling, fishing and scouting. Thank you in advance for your support! REGISTER TODAY

Bernard Kinsey "The Myth of Absence" West Angeles Church of God in Christ is blessed to welcome Mr. Bernard Kinsey as our Black History Month speaker - Sunday February 22, 2026. Through “The Myth of Absence,” Bernard Kinsey explores how African Americans have been invariably present, yet historically omitted from mainstream narratives of American History. Drawing from the Kinsey African American Art & History Collection, he shares rare, historical artworks and artifacts that demonstrate Black presence and achievement from our nation’s earliest beginnings. Through these materials, Kinsey invites us to reconsider what we know of American history as we consciously reshape the narrative for future generations. Mr. Kinsey will also share the latest edition The Kinsey African American Art & History Collection: Shared Treasures of Bernard and Shirley Kinsey Where Art and History Intersect -- 6th Edition - a 360-page archival collection, that tells the story of the African American experience from 1595-present through original art, artifacts, and historical documents. Copies of the book will be available for purchase on the Concourse following service. Blake Sr. West Angeles Church of God in Christ Official Announcement The Blake family announces, with deep sorrow, the passing of our beloved Lawrence Champion Blake, who transitioned on January 27, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was 54 years old. Pastor Lawrence was a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, beloved brother, faithful son, and a shepherd after God’s own heart. He faithfully served at West Angeles Church of God in Christ for many, many years prior to his elevation as Senior Pastor of Palm Lane Church of God in Christ. Elder Lawrence was known for his passion for God, love for people, and willingness to serve wherever needed. As Senior Pastor of Palm Lane Church of God in Christ, he served with humility, compassion, and an unshakable commitment to redemption. Though he endured a season of physical challenge, he faced it with courage and conviction. He transitioned from labor to reward having never yielded to doubt, defeat, or despair, but instead having fought the good fight, finished his course, and kept the faith. His legacy will continue to speak through those he loved and served. The family invites the public to join us in celebrating Pastor Lawrence’s life and ministry at the Celebration of Life, to be held on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at West Angeles Cathedral. A public viewing will take place from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. prior to the service.
