New To West Angeles?
We are so glad you are here.
At West Angeles, we Evangelize, Edify, and Equip
believers to reach the world with the love of Jesus.
Meet our West Angeles Leadership
Pastor Charles Blake II and Lady DeAndra Blake
West Angeles is led by our current Pastor is Pastor Charles E. Blake II.
Pastor Blake was born in San Diego, California in 1969, and is the eldest
son of Bishop and Mrs. Charles E. Blake.
After growing up at West Angeles COGIC, he departed to pursue higher
education at the esteemed Oral Roberts University, from which he received
a Bachelor of Science Degree in Marketing. From there, Charles went to
Atlanta, Georgia to study for the Master of Divinity degree at the
Interdenominational Theological Center which includes the Charles
Harrison Mason Seminary. It was there, through his studies in Ethics and
Society, that his passion for ministry in Community Outreach and Activism
was fanned into flame.
Upon returning home, Pastor Charles stepped into the role of Community
Relations Director at West Angeles—working very closely with various
community organizations and political entities, examining ways in which we
can all work together to strengthen and uplift each other and the
community. After serving for many years as alongside his father, Bishop
Charles E. Blake, Sr., as both Assistant Pastor and Co-Pastor, he was
humbled to step into the role of Senior Pastor in 2022. He looks forward to
bringing his experiences and passion of community relations into this role.
Pastor Charles is married to DeAndra Blake and is the proud father of two
sons Charles III and Julian. He has an intense love for the Lord and His
people, and is excited to empower West Angeles to be a beacon of the
Lord’s love.
Meet our Founding Father
Presiding Bishop Emeritus Charles E. Blake, Sr. is commonly referred to as
a “visionary”. Under his 53 years of leadership, West Angeles matriculated
from a 50-member church on West Adams Boulevard to an internationally
known church of 25,000 members with multiple properties on Crenshaw
Boulevard. He has been a champion of the Crenshaw
Corridor—instrumental in uplifting the tenor of the area through the
development of multiple properties and programs to uplift members of the
community. During his pastorship, he developed and played an integral
role in the West Angeles Community Development Corporation, which
seeks to promote social change through economic empowerment, social
justice, and community transformation. He also put his passion for the
people of Africa, through his organization, Save Africa’s Children, which
helped over 200,000 children who had been orphaned by HIV/AIDS.
However, even with all of this, he still was able to successfully serve as
Presiding Bishop of the International Church of God in Christ denomination
from 2007-2021. Looking back on all that he had done, he made the
decision in 2022 to rest and enjoy the fruits of his years of Godly service.
Although he has retired from the Pastor role, he is still involved in the life of
the Church and enjoys encouraging the employees and members of his
beloved West Angeles. To quote his trademark phrase, “I see you in the
future, and you look much better than you look right now”.

What to Expect At West Angeles
The Heart Behind The Mission
We know that our love is an action. Reaching people outside the four walls of our church is vital at West Angeles. Ministry takes place in church, at home, in small groups, in the real world. We embrace the opportunity to show love any chance we get.
